THE KEITH OWEN BALL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
In memory of former ISA Board Member and dedicated Florida appraiser, Keith Ball, the ISA Foundation announces the Keith Owen Ball Memorial Scholarship. Created by gifts from friends and colleagues, including a major gift from the Central Florida Chapter of ISA, this scholarship of $750 per award will be given to a "new" appraiser (one with less than two years professional experience) for attendance at the ISA Antiques & Residential Contents (ARC). The application period will run concurrently with the other scholarships and use the same applications and guidelines. The award will run until funds are dispersed or continue with additional donations. The first scholarship will be offered in 2007 with the application period running from April 1-June 30, 2007.
BIO
Keith was an expert sailor and his adventures on the high seas eventually brought him from San Diego to Sarasota, Florida...on his sailboat! He had an open and eager mind and found joy in learning as much as he could about the things that interested him. He became a passionate and knowledgeable collector of Wedgwood basalt and Dona Rosa Pottery and had amassed a significant collection of mid-century modern furniture and glass. Keith was born with tremendous curiosity and eagerly pursued the interests that sparked his imagination; no matter where it led him. He was an expert at many things. He raised several exotic birds, he loved and cultivated food, wine and people, and found joy in shared discoveries. He was a life-long learner, a generous colleague, an active ISA supporter, and a man whose twinking eye and gorgeous handlebar mustache will be sadly missed by all of us. |

Fellow ISA member and loyal member of the ISA Board, Keith Ball died on May 19, 2006. Born on June 4, 1951 in Washington state, his educational pursuits brought him all over the West Coast before settling in San Diego. Keith provided estate services for some 15 years before becoming a full-time professional appraiser, and, with his partner, Howard Rittenberg, operated We Appraise, Inc., in Sarasota, Florida. His clients came from all over Florida and his reputation for hard and honest work was well known.
