The Fun'D Auction

History

The Fun'D Auction was initially developed by ISA to raise money to provide scholarships for appraisal education. When the ISA Education Foundation received non-profit status in 2002, the Fun'D Auction became its primary fund raiser. It has been held annually at the ISA Conference. Members and organizations donated goods that were auctioned by ISA member auctioneers in a special event at the conference.

Later, a silent auction, of generously donated items, was added to the mix. The live auction of several of the most special items was held during the ISA Awards Banquet at the annual conference.

2008 in Baltimore

Ch….ch….changes! has been one of the themes for the 2008 ISA Conference in Baltimore, and the ISA Education Foundation is making changes in its fund raising efforts, as well. We will not be holding a Fun'd Auction in Baltimore in 2008, but have some other fund raising efforts in the works.

One of the things that we are looking forward to is an online auction of educational opportunities, such as classes, seminars, ISA conference registration, auction house catalog subscriptions, and educational materials to be held later in the year. Taking advantage of online technology will allow us to include more people than ever before in the auction.

An online auction will open bidding to people other than the members who attend the annual conference, and hopefully raise even more money than our live auction has in the past. Focusing only on educational opportunities for our auction will also help support the mission of the ISA Education Foundation.

The past and future

Thank you to everyone who has so generously participated in the Fun'd Auctions in the past through donations, purchasing items at the auctions, working on the committees, auctioneering, clerking, and helping with other auction tasks. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

We hope that you will continue to support future fund raising efforts to help the ISA Education Foundation increase its efforts to support appraisal education.
